Portraits of Life Gallery
These portraits are part of the life-affirming gallery God has curated throughout the 35-year history of the Pregnancy Help Center. Courageous moms, precious babies, selfless volunteers, dedicated staff, visionary board members, and sacrificial donors have all played a part in who we are today. As you partner with us, you become part of the gallery of these “PORTRAITS OF LIFE Gallery.”
God has been so faithful over the past 35 years. As we move into the future, we must remain relevant, responsive, and relational. We must adapt to our ever-changing culture, respond quickly to new challenges, and build strong, supportive relationships. In doing so, we can provide hope to women, offering them a full-color, vibrant, high-definition vision for their future as a woman and a mom. We continue to do the same work in new ways to reach this new generation as we “empower women to choose life.”

Bobbi (Former Client and Now a Donor)
I was 18 years old, scared, pregnant, and planning to abort when I came to the Pregnancy Help Center in 2001. My counselor, Carole, helped me choose life by walking with me through my pregnancy, mentoring and praying. The son I was considering aborting is 22 now and loves God with all his heart. It’s my joy to donate to the PHC to help young women who need what I received back then: love, support, Christ-based mentoring, Bible studies, and parenting classes.

Jacob (Bobbi’s Son)
I’m the baby that could have been aborted, but the PHC was there to support my mom when she needed it most. I am so grateful! My mom chose to give me life and now I also have new life in Jesus that I want to share with others.

Carole (Client Advocate)
I heard about the Pregnancy Help Center through my church 25 years ago. Because I had experienced an unplanned pregnancy myself and had chosen life, God led me to start volunteering. It was 1999, one year before the current building was completed. It was so fulfilling to invest in the lives of women for 10 years and see the result of babies saved and lives transformed by Jesus. As I grew older, sometimes I would ask myself, “Did my life matter?” Now I look at these pictures and rejoice!

Jacob & Sarah (Twins Adopted)
Our birth mom already had three kids and was recently separated from her husband when she found out she was pregnant with twins. She was referred to the Pregnancy Help Center where she found a safe place to tell her story and met Carole, a caring advocate. Carole loved her, prayed for her, and walked with her as she made the brave decision to place us for adoption. In that process, our birth parents reconciled and they were both present at the hospital along with our adoptive parents when we were born. In a unique ceremony at Grace Fellowship, our birth parents handed us over to our adoptive parents. The courageous choice our birth mom made with the help of the PHC, and the love of our forever mom, Cindi, is the reason we are able to have such happy and successful lives today.

Julian, Adriana & Celeste Chapa (A Family Formed)
I was a senior at Mayde Creek High School in 2000 when I got pregnant. My parents kicked me out of the house, but Julian and I found the Pregnancy Help Center. They became our family and really equipped us to become great parents for our baby girl, Celeste. We took every class we could and got everything we needed to parent successfully. We would not be the family we are today had it not been for the investment of the PHC in our lives. Today it is our joy to give back to the PHC through our church.

The STI/STD Testing Client
“STI testing helped me and saved our baby!”
I came in determined to abort but agreed to STI testing and treatment. The first ultrasound didn’t reveal much, but my STI test was positive, so one week later I came back for treatment and another ultrasound. I cried when I saw the heartbeat at 9 weeks! My boyfriend and I came back again and held hands as we watched another ultrasound and decided to parent. Now we’re taking prenatal classes every week together. (“Alinka,” PHC Client)

The Nurse Chat Client
“If there’s no heartbeat, I’m getting rid of it!”
I thought he loved me, but he was just using me. One day my mom said, “You’re looking a little pudgy, are you sure you’re not pregnant?” It was late at night when I took the pregnancy test. Two lines… and immediate fear! I went online and found the PHC. They had a 24/7 nurse chat line, so I started texting with a nurse. She helped me make an appointment for an ultrasound, but in my heart I knew that if there was no heartbeat, I would get rid of it. During the ultrasound, the nurse was surprised when, at 5 weeks gestation, there was a little flutter of a heartbeat. Once I saw that, there was no turning back. “It” was a “she” that was born in March 2024 – and now I come back every week for classes to be a great mom to her. (“Liana,” PHC Client)

The Zoom Call Client
“Talking to the PHC nurse by Zoom convinced me to make an appointment.”
I was planning to get an abortion, but had a few questions. My appointment at the PHC got cancelled because the hurricane took out their power. Honestly, I panicked. “Could I have a telehealth visit instead?” I asked. Immediately, one of the nurses sent me a link for a Zoom call that afternoon. We talked and she answered all my questions. I felt so comfortable that I decided to make an appointment for an ultrasound, and I’m so glad I did. I feel safe at the PHC. I plan to parent my baby, even though it’s difficult having an unplanned pregnancy in my culture.” (“Habiba,” PHC Client)

The Abortion Pill Client
“I had the abortion pills in my hand.”
My boyfriend was really pressuring me to get an abortion, so I went to a clinic in North Carolina. They told me I was 8 weeks pregnant and handed me 5 abortion pills. But I was convinced I was further along and said, “I won’t take them until you give me an ultrasound.” Sure enough! I was 13 weeks and the baby was moving all over the place! I decided right there that I couldn’t go through with the abortion. I came back to Texas, searched online, and found the Pregnancy Help Center. I’m in my 6th month now and am so thankful for the life growing inside of me! (“Jasmin,” PHC Client)

The Post-Roe Client
“I aborted my first baby, I don’t want to make the same mistake again. Will you help me?”
I was in a very abusive relationship when I found out I was pregnant. I came to the PHC first, but then moved forward with the worst decision of my life! Since abortion was illegal in Texas, I found a company that paid for me to fly to St. Louis, put me up at a hotel, and I aborted my first baby there. I knew it was wrong and felt so guilty! Back in Katy, with a new boyfriend, I got pregnant again. He said he wasn’t ready to be a dad and really pressured me, “You aborted before, why can’t you do it again?” I came back to the PHC, “I don’t want to make the same mistake again. Will you help me?” The PHC welcomed me without judgment, and I chose life for my baby boy! They have been so supportive as I embark on this journey as a single mom. (“Zara,” PHC Client)
